Providing Utah's #1 honestly raw & pure Cold Extract honey.
Our passion for beekeeping began over 140 years ago when my great great great grandfather Benjamin (Benji) ordered 100 beehives in the back of a horse drawn wagon. At $4 per hive, it was a small fortune. Upon arrival, most had been smothered by the long hot journey. There were no Amazon refunds back then.
Grandpa Benji salvaged what few were left and, after a few years, greatly surpassed the number lost. Benji loved honey. Once when he was younger, some wild honeycomb saved him from near starvation. Later in life he owned thousands of acres of orchards. Benji ultimately taught his wealthy son Dave the beekeeping trade, who then passed the skill on to his poor son Ben (G.B. Wilson) who once sold everything he had to save his sick wife. After she recovered they bought a property in S. Utah and raised a family through the depression trading honey, and other farm goods for the living expenses they had. Ben passed on the family tradition that "work solves all problems."
Things got better and during the fabulous 50's and swinging 60's, My father (Ben's grandson), Boydean, was the only posterity interested in beekeeping. Boydean helped his grandfather and built hive boxes to pay for schooling.
Growing up in the 80's, we never wore bee suits. I never knew such a thing existed. I feel cheated! The tradition of beekeeping came with a natural understanding of “bee-havior”. Managing bees without protection felt as normal for us kids as climbing trees. After 5 generations, however, beekeeping had whittled to not much more than a homestead hobby. That is, until my father retired and we decided to turn beekeeping back into a business. No doubt grandpa would be proud!
